How to Interpret Your Dreams: A Beginner's Guide

Dream interpretation isn't about a fixed dictionary where every symbol has one meaning. It's a personal practice of connecting the images and feelings of a dream to what's happening in your life.

Step 1: Record the dream right away

Dreams fade within minutes of waking. Keep a notebook or phone note by the bed and jot down whatever you remember — images, people, places and especially how you felt.

Step 2: Find the core emotion

Before decoding any symbol, name the dominant feeling: fear, joy, shame, relief. The emotion is the thread that ties the dream to your waking concerns.

Step 3: Decode the symbols personally

Common symbols have traditional meanings — water for emotion, falling for loss of control — but your associations matter most. Our dream dictionary is a starting point, not the final word.

Step 4: Connect it to waking life

Ask: what in my life right now feels like this dream? The answer is usually the interpretation. For a guided reading, describe your dream to the AI interpreter and compare its take with your own.
